Prabhavati Sangeet Samman 2025: Celebrating the Soul of Indian Classical Music in Prayagraj

Prabhavati Sangeet Samman 2025: Celebrating the Soul of Indian Classical Music in Prayagraj

The city of Prayagraj resonated with the timeless strains of Indian classical music on April 30, 2025, as the Prabhavati Sangeet Samman was hosted at the Allahabad Museum auditorium. Organized under the joint banner of Bougainvillea Art Foundation and Saadh Man Param Ras, the event brought together maestros and emerging talents in a soulful celebration of tradition and artistry.

Honoring Tradition, Encouraging Talent

Spearheaded by the Foundation’s patron, Shri Aditya Prakash Tiwari, the Prabhavati Sangeet Samman has, for years, recognized excellence in Indian classical music across various cities in India. The award not only honors established virtuosos but also uplifts promising young artists, keeping the musical heritage alive for future generations.

An Evening of Musical Brilliance

The program opened with a captivating rendition of Raag Jansamohini by vocalist Shivshankar Mishra, accompanied by Anurag Mishra on harmonium and Chiranjeev Aarush Mishra on tabla. Their synergy set a serene yet powerful tone for the evening.

Next, Siddharth Mishra graced the stage with Raag Madhubanti, again with harmonium accompaniment by Anurag Mishra and tabla by the celebrated Dr. Vinod Kumar Mishra, a name synonymous with excellence in percussion across India.

The highlight of the evening came with Vidushi Reshma Srivastava, whose sitar performance in Raag Puriya Dhanashree mesmerized the audience. Her artistry was both intricate and emotive, drawing thunderous applause. In recognition of her exceptional contribution to promoting Indian classical music internationally, she was conferred the Prabhavati Sangeet Samman 2025.

A Tribute to Collective Effort

Other distinguished artists were also honored with mementos for their contributions. A.P. Tiwari extended heartfelt thanks to Dr. Rajesh Kumar Mishra and Dr. Sushil Kumar Shukla, Deputy Curators of the Allahabad Museum, along with their dedicated staff, for their support in ensuring the event’s success.

The Prabhavati Sangeet Samman 2025 was more than an award ceremony—it was a reaffirmation of the timeless beauty of Indian classical music, a bridge between generations, and a reminder that the ragas, once born in ancient courts and temples, continue to find new hearts to inhabit.
